THE NATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Every music festival in Canada is invited to participate in the National Music Festival, subject to the general regulations of the National Festival. At the local festival there may be one winner named in each of the following classes: solo voice, pianoforte solo, string solo, woodwind solo, brass solo and instrumental ensemble. Read More... The rules state that the winner who is recommended in each eligible class shall be the participant who displays the greatest musicianship, with a minimum of 85 marks. The winner progresses to the National Music Festival through the Provincial Festival.
Teachers and entrants are reminded that participation in the Provincial Music Festival is for the purpose of nominating participants to the National Music Festival. Therefore, an entrant in the local festival who will not be able to proceed to the National Festival is expected to decline nomination for participation in the Provincial Festival.
